back! safe and sound :)
missing of family and friends, and of singapore's cleanliness and good food aside, i think i wouldn't had mind staying in cambodia & vietnam for a longer period of time...forever! it actually felt quite good. i felt happiness (apart from our almost-every-nightly-bitching about *ahem* 3 very important people, which actually bonded the team even better haha) right there. yes, no doubt, i was really irritated with the zillions of weird species of insects landing on me everytime, and eeeeew the unclean toilets, coupled with the umpteen times of ice-cream/cakes/chocolates cravings etc, but the cambodians displayed satisfaction with the basic things that they have and they always do and say things so sincerely that...i guess i was influenced, positively :)
granted, i spent close to $1k to suffer instead of spending it on travelling to nicer countries or bingeing on loads of nice food here. but the experience was worth it...i think :)
and now right back here, i don't cringe when i see a tiny little ant anymore. i let lyd's dog lick me and stand up and rest its paws on my body, something which i've never allowed to happen before (though i still didn't have enough courage to entertain her dog like stroke it, i plainly ignored it whoops!) and would never have thought of letting it happen before. i'm grateful for the cleanliness around me, and for all the good food and never ending food stalls lined up all enticing me whenever i walk past them.
but...
i'm afraid that all these will be temporal. one day, when all the post-trip feelings wear off, i might go EEEEE at a tiny little ant, i'll avoid dogs at all costs, i'll take good food for granted, i'll cringe at the sight of a piece of dirt (or whatever) in singapore's much much comparatively cleaner toilets.
and i don't want such things to happen.
we'll see.
but now, allow me to go and enjoy my comfy bed now :) :) :)
